U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), a leader on the Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement after visiting the Carolina Panthers to discuss his efforts to increase collaboration and advance the understanding of concussions, as well as the steps being taken by the Panthers and the National Football League (NFL) to reduce injuries.

“As a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, I’m working with my colleagues to increase collaboration and advance the understanding of concussions. Today, as part of that effort, I visited Bank of America Stadium to learn more about the steps being taken by the Carolina Panthers and the NFL to reduce concussions and improve care.

Despite all the progress made over the past several years, there’s still a lot we don’t know about head trauma. That’s why I’ve made it a top priority to examine this problem – especially in our nation’s youth. I’m so impressed with the cutting-edge work being done by the Panthers to prevent, diagnose and treat player injuries and I appreciate the emphasis the NFL is placing on player safety. I’ll continue to work with them to shine a light on this issue and improve our understanding of concussions.”  #KeepPounding
