The SPPD says goodbye to K-9 Elvis as he enters his retirement. THANK YOU Elvis for a job well done and your service to your community. Elvis is going to live with his current handler Officer Glover.

Here is just a sample of Elvis’s career here with the SPPD.

K9 Elvis begin his tour of duty on December 2012 and ended his tour of duty on May 1, 2017 due to medical reasons. K9 Elvis had a strong work ethic and was very successful during his tour of duty.

K9 Elvis sniffed 204 vehicles during his career, assisted with 17 search warrants, and assisted other agencies in Moore County 51 times. K9 Elvis located a total of 665 grams of Cocaine/Crack. K9 Elvis located a total of 1571 grams of Marijuana. K9 Elvis located a total of 75 grams of other narcotics such as Heroin, Meth, Prescription Medication, etc. K9 Elvis located a total of 61 items of drug paraphernalia ranging from electronic scales, pipes used to smoke narcotics, and other types of paraphernalia. K9 Elvis assisted with seizing $58,696 in US Currency from drug cases on vehicle stops and assisting with search warrants. K9 Elvis completed 61 tracks during his career for missing people and criminals. Due to K9 Elvis’s assistance missing people were returned home and criminals were located then placed under arrest for the crimes they committed. K9 Elvis completed 39 articles searches for stolen property or items criminals discarded. K9 Elvis completed 53 demos throughout the Town of Southern Pines and Moore County. K9 Elvis completed demos for Elementary Schools, Day Cares, Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, Wounded Warriors Project/Dog Tags, Cameron’s Boy/Girls Camp, and many other organizations. During K9 Elvis’s career he made 42 Felony arrest and 86 Misdemeanor arrest.
