An ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect wanted in a Southern Pines jewelry store robbery last week was arrested, announced the Southern Pines Police Department on Monday.

Angelo Epps, 59, of Fayetteville, was arrested in New Jersey in connection with the robbery of Kay Jewelers, located in the Southern Pines Village shopping plaza on Brucewood Road.

Southern Pines Police Department obtained arrest warrants charging Epps with robbery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of second degree kidnapping.

The suspect is accused of entering the store and pointing a pistol at the employees while ordering them to fill a bag with the jewelry.

The police department issued a press release Thursday announcing to the public that Epps is to be considered “armed and dangerous as he is additionally wanted by multiple law enforcement agencies outside of Moore County.

Police said, “Epps will be extradited back to the State of North Carolina for criminal prosecution.”
