Laurinburg police held identifying decomposed body

The Laurinburg Police Department is asking the public’s assistance in identifying a decomposed body found in a creek earlier this week.

A woman’s body was found Monday in water adjacent to U.S. 401 S, near 401 Service Road and Lake Drive, according to a news release from the police department.

“The individual had heavy decomposition, and there was no form of identification found,” said the police.

Officials believe there was no foul play involved.

Authorities describe the woman as possibly African-American, between 5’0 to 5’5, weighing approximately 100 pounds.

She was found wearing a black “Tapout” hoodie, blue “Aeropostale” jeans, black “Walker” Tumbler” Velco sneakers, and an immobilizer knee brace on the left leg, outside of the jeans.

The body was sent to N.C. State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and an autopsy.

Please dial 911 or call 910-276-3211 if you have any information about the case.
