Say hello to Miss Lily. Lily is said to be a 10-year-old Yorkie mix (foster mom thinks I’m also mixed with Chinese Crested.) She has no teeth and weighs in at 4.4 pounds.
Lily is a sweetheart and steals the hearts of everyone she meets. She was an owner surrender at the shelter and it’s assumed that she’s lived a life of neglect and some abuse.
Despite her past, she is thriving in her foster home. She would do best in a quiet home with older children. She will snuggle up to her foster mom’s 2-year-old daughter, but sometimes she would prefer to be left alone, so will growl, at times.
Lily doesn’t mind other dogs or even cats if they keep to themselves. (She does not appreciate her foster mom’s playful kitten.) She loves to snuggle her foster mom at night and follows her around everywhere during the day. Lily loves car rides. She also does not appreciate being crated and will just bark and bark…and bark. (She goes in the crate when foster mom leaves.) Bath time is still pretty scary.
It’s clear that Lily was never potty trained but gets scared when she has an accident (so positive reinforcement only for this girl.) When she first arrived, she had no clue she was supposed to do her business outside….but with positive reinforcement and plenty of potty breaks and reminders, she is improving daily.
This sweet girl can’t handle any form of punishment. Lily needs a kind, gentle, patient and loving home and in return, she will be a loyal, loving companion. She’s a special girl.
Muddy Paws Grooming was generous enough to donate their grooming services when Lily arrived, a flea infested, matted mess. And when a kind woman saw Lily’s story, she offered to pay for Lily to be groomed (at Muddy Paws Grooming only) 1 time a month, for an entire year.
Lily will be up for adoption next week since she’s being treated for and recovering from a cough.
