A Robbins man was airlifted to a hospital after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night.
Emergency crews were called shortly before 10 p.m. to the 300 block of Flint Hill Church Road in Robbins and arrived to a heavily damage Buick Century with the driver trapped inside.
Firefighters had to cut the driver’s side door off to free the man. He was then transported to Miliken Community Park in Robbins by ambulance, where a landing zone was set up for UNC Air Care. The man appeared to be talking to the UNC Air Care medics while being transferred to their care.
Flint Hill Church Road was closed during the investigation. N.C. State Highway Patrol tells Sandhills Sentinel the driver of the Century was traveling northbound when he crossed the centerline and went off the left side of the road. He ran through a yard and hit a tree. There was no indication the driver tried to brake at any point.
The man is now facing several charges including failure to maintain lane control, driving with a revoked license, and not wearing a seat belt.
Responding to the scene were Robbins Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, UNC Air Care, and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
