A man was arrested Monday on charges that he stole timber.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office says James Wayne Richardson Jr, 26, of Biscoe, cut down several acres of trees in northern Moore County in March without the owner’s permission.

The suspect was charged with one count of misdemeanor cut/ injure/ remove timber of another, and one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense.

Richardson was taken to Moore County Detention Center, was given a $10,000 secured bond, and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
