Man arrested for first-degree forcible rape, forcible sex offense

A man from Fayetteville is facing charges of first-degree forcible rape and first-degree forcible sex offense, according to a press release from Southern Pines Police Department.

Alexander Rowe, 25, was placed at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond, according to the release.

“On March 11, 2023, members of the Southern Pines Police Department’s Patrol and Investigation Divisions were called upon to investigate a forced sexual assault that occurred during the evening hours of March 10, 2023,” said the release.

Southern Pines Police said this was not a random act of violence, for the suspect and victim knew each other.

Rowe is due in Moore County court on April 27 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
