Man arrested on larceny by employee, false pretense charges

A Carthage man was arrested and charged with one count of larceny by an employee and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a news advisory that David Sims was arrested two days after the sheriff’s office received a report of larceny.

“On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Larceny by an Employee which had occurred at a business in the Aberdeen area of Moore County,” said Fields.

During the investigation, 37-year-old Sims was identified as a suspect and arrested.

The news release did not state what company Sims worked at.

“Sheriff’s Investigators are requesting that anyone who has privately purchased property from Sims contact the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 910-947-2931,” said Fields. “Anonymous information can be provided by calling 910-947-4444.”

The suspect was placed under a $2,500 unsecured bond at the Moore County Detention Center and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. He is expected in court on Feb. 3.
