Man charged with multiple financial crimes

A man from Atlanta, Georgia was charged with multiple financial crimes, according to a press release from Pinehurst Police Department.

“On February 17, at 11:07 p.m., Pinehurst Police Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop on Lake Hills Road,” said the press release. “During the stop, officers developed probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle and located a stolen firearm and three stolen credit cards. Officers continued the investigation and were able to develop additional probable cause resulting in a search warrant for the residence of 55 Cedar Wood Court.”

Pinehurst Police Department and Moore County Sheriff’s Department conducted a search of the home around midnight on Sunday, Feb. 19.

“Officers seized evidence of multiple financial crimes,” said the press release.

Kyle Griffin is facing charges of two counts of identity theft, financial card theft, possession of stolen firearm, possession of firearm by felon, and carrying a concealed weapon.

“The investigation is ongoing with more charges possible,” said the release.

The suspect’s secured bond was set at $400,000. He is due in court on Wednesday and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
