Man escapes serious injury in rollover crash

A man walked away with minor injuries from an accident Sunday afternoon outside of Carthage.

A call came in third-party to members of Carthage Fire Department around noon about a single-vehicle accident along a dirt road, but the location was not clear. It was originally thought to be in the area of Glendon-Carthage Road and Cool Springs Road.

High Falls Fire Department was dispatched to assist, and after almost a half-hour of searching back roads, the vehicle was finally found.

A Toyota 4Runner traveling northwest on Underwood Road had lost control at a curve and overturned leaving the vehicle on its side just off the dirt road, according to officials on scene.

The driver was the only occupant of the SUV. He was checked out by EMS but refused transport to the hospital.

N.C. State Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash.

Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire Department, High Falls Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
