Sheriff Neil Godfrey announced the apprehension of Gregory Lawrence Alston after fleeing to elude arrest.

Gregory Lawrence Alston appeared at Moore County District Court today on a first appearance charge for driving while license revoked, assault on a female and a motor vehicle registration violation. Alston also had an outstanding child support warrant and was approached by Sheriff’s Deputies for service.

When deputies attempted to take Alston into custody, he fled the courtroom. Deputies were able to detain Alston outside the Court facility where he complained of an eye injury.

He was transported to Moore Regional Hospital where he will receive the appropriate medical treatment prior to being taken before the magistrate.

Alston will be given a bond, a new court date and placed in the Moore County Detention Center.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
