Man held on $750K bond for child sex crimes

A 22-year-old man was placed under a $750,000 secured bond at the Moore County Detention Center after being arrested for alleged sex crimes following an investigation in Robbins.

“On September 12, 2022, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of statutory rape against a minor child,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a press release. “According to the report, the child had met the alleged offender through an online chat application.”

On Oct. 14, sheriff’s investigators arrested Sebastion Swanson, of Asheboro, on charges of one count of felony statutory rape, two counts of felony statutory sex offense, two counts of felony indecent liberties with a minor child, one count of felony soliciting a minor by electronic device, and one count of felony first-degree kidnapping.

According to information from the Moore County Detention Center, the child is listed as under the age of 16.

The suspect is expected in court on Thursday and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
