Statewide Thanksgiving Click It or Ticket campaign kicks off

A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a 55-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon in Jackson Springs. The accident occurred at the intersection of Samarcand Road and Center Baptist Church Road around 1 p.m.

The vehicle was traveling south on Center Baptist Church Road when the man failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a tree, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

A helicopter was called to airlift the man to an area trauma center, however, it could not fly due to bad weather conditions.

He was transported by Moore County EMS to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. It’s unclear at this time if he passed away in the ambulance or at the hospital.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol did not release the man’s name. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt.

The accident is being investigated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
