John Matthews opened his company in 2012 in Cameron and moved to Carthage in 2013. His office is located at 10 Courthouse Square.

Matthews earned his North Carolina Professional Land Surveying License after graduating from Sandhills Community College. Before college, he was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Iraq in 2005. He is a native of Moore County and is married with two young children.

David Essick is the Project Manager at Matthews Land Surveying and Mapping, PLLC and is pursuing his license.

Matthews has a field staff of nine technicians, and four members of office staff dedicated to serving clients.

 Matthews Land Surveying and Mapping, PLLC team is ready to begin work April 29 from the Carthage office.

The largest tract of land Matthews has surveyed was 1,200 acres, and he said the team uses extensive research and ample field investigations to provide guaranteed surveys for large and smaller projects.

All work is certified by John Matthews under the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

The team has a strict no-littering policy that coincides with their regard to respecting client property and adjoining properties. For example, all water bottles are packed back to the office.
