Welcome to the latest installment of Meet Moore People. This is a series dedicated to the people all around us who make Moore County a great place to live and work.

Many times we don’t know their name or anything about them. They are the smiling face that helps us in the store, bank or any of the myriad places we go and interact with people every day.

Visible Changes has been located in Southern Pines, on Broad Street, for 21 years and has been in business for 32 years. Owner Cathy Parkin was born in Connecticut and moved here with her family in 1978. She is married with three grown children.

At that time, Pinecrest High School offered a stylist training class that allowed her to start styling hair immediately after graduation in 1980. Visible Changes has three additional stylists, but Cathy does not like to be called the boss. She strives to build an environment of teamwork.

Cathy has always wanted to be a hairstylist and does pretty much anything hair related such as perms, color, and styling. She enjoys working for herself and starting every day with a different plan, making each day a different adventure.

Cathy loves Moore County adding “I appreciate it more when I go someplace else for a while and then come back. I love the small-town feel and the fact that everything is right here.

Cathy is really thankful that she has had a career that has introduced her to so many clients that have become friends.

Visible Changes is located at 649 SW Broad Street in Southern Pines (across from Wells Fargo) and can be reached at (910) 692-2888.
