I am pleased to announce my candidacy in the 2018 Election to the Honorable position of Sheriff of Moore County.

My 34 year career in law enforcement began in Aberdeen as a Patrol Officer, and I retired as Chief of Police. During that time, I held supervisory positions in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Administration. After my retirement, I served as a Moore County Magistrate for 2 years. I continue to maintain my North Carolina Law Enforcement Certification.

My education includes an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services. I hold 2 North Carolina Advanced Law Enforcement Certificates and a North Carolina Law Enforcement Instructor Certification. During my career, I have received over 3000 hours of law enforcement and management training.

My wife (Lois) of 32 years and I have been blessed with 3 daughters and 5 grand-children. We live in Jackson Springs and are members of Yates Thagard Baptist Church in Carthage. I volunteer as President of the Board of Directors for the Eagle Springs Fire Department. I am a Life Member of the North Carolina association of Chiefs of Police, a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and a member of the Moore County Law Enforcement Officer Association.

Even though the office of Sheriff is a politically elected position, law enforcement is to remain non-partisan. It has been my practice and belief throughout my career that the goal of law enforcement is to protect and serve everyone fairly, respectfully, and without prejudice. This is my promise to every citizen in Moore County.

Respectfully,

Michael Connor
