Mobile home burns outside of Carthage

Multiple fire units were dispatched to a structure fire Wednesday evening outside of Carthage. The blaze broke out just before 6 p.m. inside a mobile home located on Coley Court off of Coley Lane and Highway 15-501.

Carthage Fire Chief Brian Tyner was first on scene and reported flames showing from the backside of the home. Within minutes, additional fire personnel arrived, and the fire was knocked down. The fire was contained to one end of the home.

Units were on the scene for over an hour wetting hot spots and doing overhaul due to the extensive damage. Duke Energy was called to remove power from the home. 

There were no injuries reported. The occupant was displaced, and the Red Cross is assisting the resident.  

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Responding units were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Carthage Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Fire Marshal, and Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
