The Moore County Sheriff’s Office has suspended inmate visitation indefinitely as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of coronavirus.
“We are working with the Moore County Health Department and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to follow recommended guidelines to mitigate the spread of this virus,” said Moore County Sheriff’s Office in a Friday news release.
Beginning March 16, inmate visitation, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, religious services, and parenting classes will be suspended “until the imminent threat of this virus subsides. Court ordered DNA collection is also on hold.
“Sheriff’s Fields utmost priority is to safeguard the citizens, county personnel, and inmates alike from the spread of this virus,” said Sheriff Fields. “We are currently working with contract vendors to negotiate off-site communications with inmates, as this technology is currently available. The Sheriff’s Office asks for patience as we navigate these issues and assure you that all personnel are working diligently to reduce disruptions in service. These suspended services will be evaluated weekly until they are restored completely.”
