Moore County Homeschool Aquatics girls win state championship

The Moore County Homeschool Aquatics (MCHA) Black Marlins participated in the 10th annual state championship meet hosted by North Carolinians for Home Education Athletic Commission in Charlotte on Feb. 18.

The girls won the championship while the boys took second.  The teams scored second combined in the state.

The girls’ 200-yard medley relay broke the state record with a time of 1:59.40. The team consisted of Emma Flanagan, Sarah Hicks, Madeleine Flanagan, and Veronica Kaczorowski. 

The boys’ 400-yard free relay of Josh Johnson, Ian Hicks, Nate Fullmer, and JP Moon crushed the state record with a time 3:37.91.

Senior JP Moon also set the two longest-standing individual records in the 50-yard free relay and 100-yard breaststroke.  Moon swam 22.16 in the 50-yard free relay and 59.28 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The MCHA Black Marlins practice at Seven Lakes Health and Fitness from September until February. They will also participate in the Moore County summer swim league.  If you are interested in more information or have questions, please email [email protected].
