Moore County Sheriff’s Office August 2017 Monthly Report

During the month of August, our Patrol Deputies averaged ten minutes and fifty-two seconds while responding to 2,994 calls for service. They served 300 civil and 120 criminal papers which included 11 domestic violence orders, made 90 arrests, conducted 768 business checks and transported four mental patients. Deputies issued 124 traffic citations: 16 citations for driving with a revoked license, 35 for speeding in excess of 15 miles per hour over the posted speed limit and three for driving while impaired. Our Volunteers contributed 463 hours during the month of August.

Sheriff’s Response Team conducted a total of 21 traffic stops, four checking stations and two saturation patrols resulting in 15 citations and one misdemeanor drug charge. They conducted 27 sex offender checks, arrested one sex offender on a registration-violation, executed three search warrants and participated in a Governor’s Highway Safety Program Saturation/DWI event.

Animal Services admitted 106 dogs and 126 cats, returned five dogs and one cat to their owners, facilitated the adoption of 94 dogs and 50 cats, conducted 50 field and 104 shelter rabies vaccinations and conducted two adoption events. Deputies investigated 16 animal bite reports and responded to 86 stray-animal calls.

Detectives arrested 48 suspects totaling 107 felony and 23 misdemeanor charges, opened 82 investigations and recovered $32,504.00 in stolen property. Arrests included: one for assault with a deadly weapon, one for armed robbery, 36 for Breaking and/or Entering/Larceny, one for a weapons violation, one for resisting arrest, three for fraud, one on drug violations, one for driving while impaired and three on misdemeanor charges.

The Narcotics Division opened 39 investigations and arrested 32 suspects on a total of 137 drug and alcohol violations; five suspects were arrested for doctor shopping/prescription fraud. Narcotic Deputies seized: 2610 grams of marijuana, 190 dosage units of prescription pills, two grams of cocaine, seven dosage units of crack-cocaine, 680 grams of methamphetamine, seven bindles of heroin, one firearm and $3000.00 in US currency; the estimated street value of all drugs seized was approximately $240,570.00. Additionally, Deputies conducted 57 ABC store security checks, four ABC premise-outlets inspected and visited 101 additional ABC premise-outlets.

The Sheriff’s Office registered two new sex offenders, transferred one out of the county, updated the status of 29 offenders and is monitoring a total of 116 Moore County registered sex offenders.

In August, we issued 200 pistol purchase permits, 42 new conceal-to-carry permits and renewed 76; totaling 7,638 Moore County citizens with conceal-to-carry permits.
