Multi-agency investigation leads to the arrest of 2 West End residents

A multi-agency operation has yielded the arrest of a man and woman from West End.

The extensive investigation was led by the Moore County Sheriff’s Department who received multiple reports of larcenies throughout the county.

“On July 5, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering to a residence in the West End area of Moore County,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news release. “With the assistance of the community, Detectives were able to identify two persons of interest and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime. The Moore County Sheriff’s Office then led a multi-agency investigation into this theft, as well as other larcenies within local municipalities.”

Four days later, the sheriff’s department and Aberdeen and Pinehurst police departments provided a search warrant at a West End home and arrested Katie Burns and William Worley.

Burns and Worley were each charged with three counts of felony breaking and entering, one count of larceny after breaking and entering, four counts of felony possession of stolen goods, four counts of felony larceny, three counts of felony injury to property to obtain non-ferrous metal, one count of misdemeanor larceny.

Worley was also charged with another count of misdemeanor larceny and one count of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. In addition, Burns was charged with a misdemeanor probation violation. 

Burns’ bond was set at $25,000, and Worley received a $75,000 bond. Both are expected in court on August 18 and presumed innocent until proven guilty.
