Music is synonymous with the holiday season and comes in all forms—from the cheerful carols you can’t help but sing along with, to the poignant melodies that remind us of the true meaning of the season. The North Carolina Symphony will bring joyous holiday music to Moore County once again with its annual Classic Holiday Pops concert on December 21 at 8:00 p.m.

This concert, taking place at Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, offers favorite carols such as “Oh Christmas Tree” and “Winter Wonderland” as well as festive classical selections including Rimsky-Korsakov’s Dance of the Tumblers from Snow Maiden, Delius’ Sleigh Ride, and much more. As always, the program wraps up by bringing voices of the community together, as audiences join in the Symphony’s traditional sing-a-long.

NCS Associate Conductor David Glover will lead the concert. “We have so many wonderful traditions during the holiday season,” says Glover. “Those traditions—the food, the decorations, and maybe more than anything, music—make the season special,” says Glover.

Southern Pines is one of many stops across the state that the North Carolina Symphony makes this season to perform A Classic Holiday Pops; other concerts take place in Goldsboro, High Point, Tarboro, Jacksonville, Louisburg, Chapel Hill, New Bern, and Wilmington.

A Classic Holiday Pops is a perfect way to celebrate the season with the whole family. Tickets are available at ncsymphony.org, by phone at 919.733.2750 or toll-free at 877.627.6724, or in person at The Country Bookshop or Campbell House. Student, senior, military, teacher, and first responder discounts are available.
