A local brewery in Aberdeen partnered with the Special Operation Forces community Tuesday to host a fundraiser for a local teen going through cancer treatment. Jake Hanley is a 15-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma.

Railhouse Brewery created a limited release brew for the fundraiser using a porter base, then added coffee from Cactus Creek Gourmet Coffee Roasters, Ugandan vanilla bean and roasted cocoa nibs. Jake is a colossal Star Wars fan, so the beer was named “Never Tell Jake the Odds Coffee Chocolate Porter.”

A dollar from each pint sold went towards Jake’s medical expenses. Thanks to all the support from the community, Railhouse Brewery was able to raise over $4,000 for Jake.

Railhouse Brewery’s Manager, Nicole Meyer, was grateful the community’s support with Jake’s fundraiser.

“We are immensely grateful to the Special Forces Association for allowing us to host the Green Beret Graduation BBQ,” said Meyer. “We are honored to have the opportunity to demonstrate community support for their families with the fundraiser for Jake Hanley, who is currently in undergoing treatment for Osteosarcoma. The event was a huge success, and we look forward to partnering with the SFA in the future.”
