Aurelia Ste. Clairre (Woolsey) Howatt, 78, of Whispering Pines, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 26th.

A memorial service will be held in Columbia, S.C. at a later date.

Aurelia was born in Atlanta on February 21, 1940 to the late James Reginald and Mary Phillips Woolsey. She would move to Columbia, S.C. as a young lady where she graduated from the old Dentsville High School (now Dent Middle School). Aurelia went on to earn her Masters’ Degree in International Studiesfrom the University of South Carolina. On May 23rd of 1964, she married Franklyn James Howatt. They travelled for his military career and civil service jobs before settling in Whispering Pines, NC in 2004. Aurelia had been a member of the Westwood Baptist Church in Springfield, VA.

In addition to her husband of 54 years, Franklyn James Howatt, Aurelia is survived by her sister Margaret “Peggy” Fitts, (Tom) and nephews: Thomas M. Fitts, Jr., (Suzanne), R. Kell Fitts, (Stacey), and Daniel W. Fitts, (Elizabeth). She is also survived by her six great nieces and great nephews.
