Bessie Lee McKinnon, 83, was born on January 9, 1938. She passed away on April 20, 2021 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
Bessie grew up in Cameron, NC. she was the daughter of the late Willie Mae McKinnon. She had three sisters to preceded her in death.
Bessie was a kind gentle, and loving person. She lived in New York for many years and she was loved very much by the families she worked for.
Bessie will be dearly missed by all those who came to love her. She leaves to mourn two daughters, Dorothy McKinnon and Anita Jeffery; two granddaughters Amanda Jeffery and Shana Jeffery both of Massachusetts. She also leaves to mourn her daughters from New York, Nicole Katz, Bari (Ben) Gologor, Jennifer Crosby and Syndi Letts, not to mention Willa, Mila and Jacob. She will be missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 25, from 1-4 pm in the chapel of Pugh & Smith Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Monday, April 26, at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines.
