Obituary for Beth Ann Brust

Beth Ann Brust

Pinehurst, NC

April 12, 2023

Passed peacefully after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s. Beth was prepared to meet her savior, Jesus Christ. Born on July 5, 1936 in Hingham, MA, Beth was the daughter of Judith and Gunnar Johnson who emigrated from Sweden. She had an idyllic childhood in the company of her dear sister Gunver. Nantasket Beach and roller skating rinks were frequent haunts. She was the head majorette for her high school marching band and graduated from Hingham High in 1954. She was a 1956 graduate of Faulkner Hospital Nursing School and practiced in the Boston area. Beth married Ronald W. Brust of Worcester, MA on October 25, 1958 and they had a long and happy marriage.

Eventually she and Ron moved to upstate NY and raised their daughters in Webster. They joined Faith Lutheran Church in Penfield, NY. At Faith, Beth was active as president of the Ladies’ Guild and particularly enjoyed creating luncheon and nursing home favors. Always one to work with her hands, Beth was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, and doll maker. She will be remembered for her homemade pies. Her favorite holiday was the 4th of July and with extended family in tow she celebrated the 1976 bicentennial in downtown Boston. Beth loved music, both classical and pop, and ABBA was her favorite band. She delighted in God’s creatures, especially elephants, and passed her love of animals to her daughters. Beth was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and doting grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Beth’s later years were spent in Southern Pines, NC at Gracious Living Retirement Home and Fox Hollow Assisted Living. With daughter Kerry by her side, she was well cared for.

Beth is survived by her devoted husband Ron, four daughters and sons-in-law – Linda (Bob) Vannozzi, Susan (Brewster) Bray, Kerry Brust (John Kappes Jr.), and Kirstin (Glenn) Thesing, 5 grandchildren – Corinna Vannozzi, Brewster (Teddy) Bray, Laura Vannozzi, Brittany Bray, Holly Thesing, sister Gunver “Gunny” Rogers of Bozeman MT, two nieces and three nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Quail Haven Village in Pinehurst, NC and Liberty Hospice Services for their compassionate care of Beth.
