Billy K. Flanagan, 91, of Southern Pines, passed away at the Greens of Pinehurst on Sunday Nov. 11th.

A memorial service will be held at the Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Southern Pines, Thursday, 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00.

Born in Van Wert, OH on February 4th, 1927, he was the son of the late Jasper and Bernice (Blank) Flanagan. Billy had graduated from the Marsh Foundation School, in the Van Wert High School system, class of 1945. After graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army. Billy reenlisted and served for a total of 44 years, 22 as NCO and 22 as a Commissioned Officer before his retirement in the late 1980s as a Chief Warrant Officer (CW4). His honored career earned him a place in the Ordinancy Hall of Fame.

Billy is predeceased by his wife, Gloria Margaret Acker Flanagan. He is survived by their children: Bernerd Flanagan, his wife the late Marsha, of Barre, VT and Shelly Smith, husband Les, of Celina, OH. He was the brother of Patricia Davis of Van Wert, OH and the late Bernard Flanagan. Billy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
