Charles Thomas “Tom” Trent, Sr., age 82, of Cameron, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice House, surrounded by his family.

Son of Mack and Susan Frances Trent of Cameron, both deceased. Brother of Mack (Sharon) of Pinebluff, NC and Frank (Louann) of Spotsylvania, Va. Also survived by his beloved, never-jailed children: Susan (Steve Ferrara), Janet (Dargan Moore), Chip (Valerie Patras), Scott (Kathie Cheng), and Amanda. He also leaves behind grandchildren Will, Emma, Duncan, Elizabeth, Alec, Jack, and Henry, as well as many dedicated, committed friends.

Charles Trent, also known as Charlie, Tom, Tommy, or just Trent, was a teller of tales, a lover of dogs, and a creative curser. He loved military history, motorcycles, and great literature. He was a complicated man: charming, loving, hard-headed, supportive, funny as hell, and smarter than most, and some historians argue that the term “road rage” may have been inspired by him. Nevertheless, his loved ones never doubted his love for them.

He died from a rare and aggressive thyroid cancer, and spent his last days finding peace with the people closest to him. This world will be less rich without him. His children and loved ones will go on with the best of him in their hearts and actions.  We love you, Pops. Rest peacefully.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 7th, at 2:00 p.m. at Cameron Presbyterian Church with a visitation prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Tom Trent to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 251 Campground Road, West End, NC 27376.

Condolences may be sent to www.coxmemorialfuneralhome.com.

The family has entrusted services to Cox Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Vass.
