Doris Stanley McWhorter, 89, of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice House.
Doris was born in McColl, S.C. in Marlboro Co. to the late Frank B. and Madge Cornwell Stanley. She loved flowers and working in her yard. She was very “crafty” and enjoyed decorating her home. Doris served for many years and retired as the office manager of the Richmond Medical Center in Rockingham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Guy L. McWhorter.
She is survived by her children, Melanie M. Harrison of Pinebluff, and Mike McWhorter of Garner, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service 2:00 PM Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 632 McCrimmon Rd., Carthage with Rev. John Chavis officiating. Interment will follow at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Building Fund, 632 McCrimmon Rd., Carthage, NC 28327.
