Dorothy M. O’Keefe, 95, passed away August 31, 2022, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. She was born June 24, 1927, in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania to Joseph Victor Braun and Blanche Helen Braun (Nerozzi).
Dorothy graduated from Germantown High School, Philadelphia, PA. She was a talented artist and seamstress, designing and making her own clothes, and starting her own business to sell her creations. She married Edward J. O’Keefe in 1955 and in 1957 welcomed the birth of their beautiful daughter, Carol. She loved to bake, and her family looked forward to homemade shortbread every Christmas. Chocolate ice cream was the primary remedy for her sweet tooth. She was a realtor while residing in Madison, CT. After moving to Pinehurst, NC, she volunteered with the “Toymakers” at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for almost 20 years. She was an avid tennis player until she was 85 years young.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward and beloved daughter, Carol. She was also predeceased by her brother, Peter J. Braun, Captain, USN, Retired of Alexandria, VA. and her sister Irene A. Braun of Philadelphia, PA both of whom she adored. She is survived by her sister-in-law Claire Liebl Braun of Alexandria, VA, nieces, Lisa Braun Mino (Robert) of Furlong, PA, Judy Braun Albano (Tony) of Southport, NC, Christine Braun (Stan) of Salt Lake City, UT, Rebecca Braun Belice (Mike) of Cardiff by the Sea, CA, and nephew, Peter Joseph Braun (Lee) of Alexandria, VA.
