Edward G Shepley, age 88, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family after a long battle with COPD.

He was born on May 29, 1933 in Moore County to the late Raymond and Blanche Davis Shepley. He was a proud veteran of the US Army.  Ed loved horses and co-founded the Moore County Saddle Club.  He could play the guitar and several other instruments by ear.  He served as square dance caller for clubs in Southern Pines, Fayetteville, Rockingham and Ellerbe.  He worked for Proctor Silex and Robert’s Company, to name a few.  He will be remembered for the love and devotion he had for his family.   In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Shepley and sister, Elaine Speer.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Caviness Shepley; five daughters, Martha Gibbons (John) of Carthage; Connie McKenzie of Pinehurst; Annette Patterson (Charles) of Carthage; Judy Doby of Carthage; Peggy Overton (Chad) of Carthage;  11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation with family will be held at 1:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Priest Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Archie Stevens officiating.  The family respectfully requests face masks be worn by those attending the service.
