Frank Gentry Land, 83, of Seven Lakes, passed on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. 

 

Mr. Land was born July 29, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri; to the late Frank Joseph Land and Edith Gentry Land.  He moved to Memphis, TN when he was a child, grew up there and graduated from Memphis State in 1958. After graduating from college, he worked for International Paper Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he met his wife Pat. In 1963, they moved back to Memphis where he worked for Memphis State as alumni director and obtained a master’s degree in business administration. In 1972, the family moved to Lynchburg, Virginia where he worked at First Colony Life Insurance Company as Director of Advertising and Public Relations. He retired in 1998 and took up golf and traveling. In 2008, they moved to Seven Lakes in North Carolina to continue retirement. 

Mr. Land was a loving husband, father and grandad. He enjoyed creating family movies and photo journals, helping with special website and design projects, and meeting people through his travels. He had a special knack for striking up a conversation with just about anyone. He remained active in the Seven Lakes community until his passing.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy E. Land; son Dave Land (Kelly) and grandkids Jenna and Jackson of Denver, NC; son Michael Land (Sasha) and grandkids Madeline and Griffin of Arnold, MD; and sister Marilyn Bird of San Antonio, TX.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on February 8 at the West End Presbyterian Church in West End, NC with the Rev. Dr. Larry Lyon officiating.
