Franklin McNair “Mac” Wicker, SFC, US Army retired, age 81 of Carthage died Saturday, March 31, 2108 at Tara Plantation.

Graveside services with full military honors will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. William Hancock. The family will receive friends at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 and other times at the home.                       

A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Charles Furman and Clara Taylor Wicker. He served 21 years in the US Army and did two tours in Vietnam. He received may service medals including Motor Vehicle Driver Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. After his service to our country he went to work with Moen in Sanford where he worked as a die caster until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ursula Wolter Wicker.

He is survived by his children Patty Arrington and husband Alan of Carthage, Franklin Wicker, Jr and wife Tommie of Crowley, TX, Linda Guilbert and Husband Rick of Southern Pines, Angela Henson and husband Hal of Seven Lakes, Debra Wicker of Asheville and Jennifer Haywood of Southern Pines; brother Robert Wicker of Carthage, sisters Jean Brown of Newport, NC, Carolyn Brown of Newport, NC, Frances Maness of Robbins and Ann McCrary of Seagrove; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
