Gerald (Jerry) Claude Kirby died Monday, July 16 at his home, The Amazing Grace Farm, in Carthage, NC.
A memorial service will be held at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Avenue in Southern Pines, NC on Monday, July 23 at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends following the 2 PM service.
Jerry was born in Knoxville, TN and was the son of the late Claude and Juanita Cronan Kirby. His family had moved to Southern Pines when he was in the eighth grade. Jerry graduated from Southern Pines High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. After an honorable discharge, Jerry would attend the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA where he earned his Bachelors’ Degree in business and computer science.
In 1987, Jerry and his wife, Glenda Fry Kirby, purchased the family homestead in Carthage, restoring it and finally settling there in 2014, after spending working careers in New England.
Jerry was the loving husband of Glenda. He is survived by his family of Glenda and son Gerald and his family of Amy and Dylan, beloved grandson, of New Hampshire.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst, NC
