Gladys Ray Locklear Lucas, 67, of Aberdeen, passed peacefully at the Central Harnett Hospital on Friday, Feb. 17th.
Born at home on April 4, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Dorothy Bullard Locklear. Gladys joined the Job Corps in her teen and served with them for many years. Her service would bring her to Oklahoma and California before returning home to take care of her ailing mother. Gladys had been a longtime member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Aberdeen.
Gladys was the wife of the late Al Lucas. She is survived by her son Bruce Locklear. She was the sister of: Bonnie Brown, Gloria Jacobs, John Locklear, Roberta “Flossy” Locklear and Duck Locklear. In addition to her parents, Gladys is predeceased by her brother Sylvester Locklear and sister Nellie Zavala.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wed. Feb. 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Southern Pines. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
