Irene Atkins Buie, age 82, of Vass, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00.
Irene was born in Lee County, North Carolina on January 20, 1937 to the late Paul Columbus and Alma Creed Atkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Billy Atkins. Irene was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Johnnie Junior Buie; sons, Allen Buie of Vass, Timmy Buie (Anna) of Carthage, Wayne Buie (Michelle) of Michigan; sister, Ruby Cox of Cameron; grandchildren, Allison, Kellie, Gabrielle, Candace, Joey and Josh; great-grandchildren, Laine and Levi.
