James Colon “JC” Comer, Sr., longtime resident of Eagle Springs, passed away on November 27, 2018, one day after his 91st birthday.

He was born on November 26, 1927 in Moore County to the late Rev. C.V. Comer and Eutica Comer. JC was a founding member of the Eagle Springs Fire Department. He began as a charter member of the department in 1952 and served as Assistant Chief in 1955 and Chief from 1978-1993. He served on as a Board Member and left the department in 1993. He was a longtime member of Eagle Springs Baptist Church serving as Deacon and choir member. 

His career started as the owner and operator of a General Store in Eagle Springs. Later he started JC Comer Farms specializing in Pinestraw. He proudly worked until retirement at the age of 88.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Brown Comer in 2006; one son, Jimmy Comer; two sisters, Geneva and Louise four brothers, Robert, Clinton, Gordon and Clyde, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Louise Comer; one daughter, Terry Comer Robson; two grandsons, Garrett (Courtney) and Graham Robson; also survived by special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Mike Nardo and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 7:00-9:00PM at Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes. A funeral will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00PM at Eagle Springs Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
