James Louis Brewster, Sr., 61, of West End, went home to his Lord on Monday, November 19th, 2018.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2237 Camp Easter Rd, Carthage on Friday Nov. 23rd at 2:30 P.M. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service starting at 1:00. Pastor Greg Newton to officiate.

James was born April 24, 1957 in Tazwell Co., VA to the late Archie Ray and Frances Louise Hardy Brewster. He was raised in West Virginia and at the age of 17, he moved to the Sandhills. He had worked for the FirstHealth Hospital, a career that lasted 37 years. It was while working at the hospital that he met, and later married Cherrie L. Atkins. James was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church family.

James was the loving husband of Cherrie Atkins Brewster. He was the father of James Louis Brewster, Jr., wife Bridgette Ann, of West End and the late Daniel Franklin Brewster. He was the brother of Lena Whitt, husband Robert, Geneva Rose, Faye Tyree, husband David, Frances Walker, husband Mark, and the late Goldie Page, Frazer Brewster, Eugene Brewster and Franklin Patton Brewster. He is also survived by his 2 granddaughters: Haley Ann Radcliff & Kylie Alisa Brewster and niece Tabbatha Shamburger. He was the brother-in-law of Ronnie Atkins, wife Linda, Rebecca Brady and Lisa Black, husband Marcus Black, Sr. 

Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Seven Lakes.
