Mrs. Janet Gilmore Little, 86 of Hoffman, North Carolina passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Mrs. Little was born on July 16, 1932 to the late Pinky Gilmore. After her mother’s passing, she was raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. Ida and Tom Sams.

She attended primary school in Hoffman, North Carolina, high school at West Southern Pines High School, and college at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. 

She married Ivory Little and a few years later they relocated to Washington, DC, where they resided for a number of years. She was employed with the United States Treasury in Washington, DC.  After returning to North Carolina she was employed with the Richmond County School System as a Librarian at Beaver Dam School and later as a Library Assistant at Richmond Senior High School. She was also employed with the Richmond County Council on Aging as a meal site manager at Beaver Dam Community Center in Hoffman for a number of years.

She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Hoffman, North Carolina until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Little, one daughter Kimberly Little, one brother, Louis Gilmore and one sister, Juanita Gilmore.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 63 years; Ivory Little of Hoffman, North Carolina, five sons; Gregory Lee of New Bern, NC. Reginald Little of Atlanta, Georgia, Ivy  Little (Dorothy) of Hoffman, North Carolina, George Little of Aberdeen, North Carolina and Stephen Little of Hoffman, North Carolina, two daughters; Iris Arnese Little of Hoffman, North Carolina and Ivan Janeen Taylor (Robert) of Madison, Alabama, four grandchildren; LaShunta Little-Williams (Anthony), of Charlotte, North Carolina, Latasha Little of Houston, Texas, Keiyona Little of Hoffman, North Carolina and Jarek Taylor of Madison, Alabama, two great grandchildren, Khairee Little and Aria Williams, one brother, Retired Bishop Marshall Gilmore of Concord, North Carolina, two sisters-in-law; Yvonne Gilmore of Concord, North Carolina and Juanita Gilmore of Southern Pines, North Carolina, one brother-in-law; Ernest Gilmore of Hoffman, North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Jones and Little Funeral Home in Aberdeen, NC. The Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon at Jones and Little Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 11, 2019. A Public Viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
