Janice Dee Shearer of Pinehurst, NC died peacefully Sunday, September 20, 2020 at home.
She was born in Saginaw, MI on January 11, 1940, the daughter of the late John Jeffrey and Inez Jeffrey.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Pinehurst, NC. She enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles and adored her five grandchildren. She retired from Douglas Byrd High School as a math teacher and soon after relocated to Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, NC and played golf for the next 17 years before moving to Pinehurst.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Timothy Shearer; her children, Hans Shearer and wife Jayne of Richmond, VA; Carl Shearer of Wilmington, NC; Eric Shearer and wife Tracy of Raleigh, NC; Kirk Shearer and wife Janice of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Alexander Shearer, Abby Shearer, Alicia Helms, Matthew Shearer and Riley Shearer.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 300 Dundee Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 by Father John Forbes.
