Jerry Ray Craven, age 68, of Vass, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Vass.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vass. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Jackson Springs.

Ray was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina on February 23, 1951 to Charlie and Alice Pusser Craven. He worked as a Farm Manager and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling, motorcycle and horseback riding, but his pride and joy was his granddaughter Alyssa also known as “Possum.”

He is survived by his daughter, Tara Frances Craven; sisters, Rebecca Hambrick and Betty Jean Tarr; brothers, Charles Edward and Roger Lee Craven; granddaughter, Alyssa Gail Rockholt and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Alice Pusser Craven; wife, Roberta Gail Craven; son, Bobby Ray Craven.
