Jesse Raymond Doby, age 90, of Cameron, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church in Sanford with Dr. David Burroughs officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church and other times at the home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Pineywood Baptist Church Cemetery in Cameron.

Raymond was born in Surry County on January 22, 1928 to Carlie L. and Emma Holder Doby. He made his life long career in Moore County as a farmer and gave many years of service to his community and church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. The family would like for him to be remembered for his strong work ethic. He was a very hard working man and taught all his children to work hard as well. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his children, Brenda Doby Griffith (Steve) of Georgia, June Doby Cornell (James) of Goldsboro, Mike “Hoss” Doby (Terry) of Cameron, Donny Doby (Carol) also of Cameron; sisters, Vera Pope of Pinehurst, Mable Horne of Cameron; grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, Jeremy, Matthew, Ryan, Sarah, Eric; great-grandchildren, Layla, Nathan, Caitlyn, Madison, Lucas, Jesse.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Naomi Fogleman Doby; his parents, Carlie L. and Emma Holder Doby; sisters, Josie Sharpe, Thelma Freeman; brothers, Grady and Posey.
