Joan Lorraine Lundberg Koller, 81, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at FirstHealth Hospice House with her loving husband Joe by her side. Joan most recently resided in Seven Lakes, NC.

She was born on May 4, 1937 in New Brunswick, Canada. Her parents, John (Jack) and Claudia Whitehouse Lundberg, eventually moved the family to New York City. She attended Long Island City High School. In 1984, she was proud to obtain her US citizenship.
Joan married Joseph Peter Koller on July 28, 1962. They lived briefly in Queens, NY before moving to Holbrook, NY (Long Island). There they raised their three children, Joann, Debbie and John. Joan was a loving stay at home mom until later in life when she worked in admissions at Stony Brook University Hospital and later retired to Atlantic Beach, NC.

Joan was a strong woman, surviving everything life threw at her and never slowing down. She enjoyed traveling to see her family and friends, especially the vacation trips with her children and grandchildren. Joan enjoyed many hobbies including Sandhills bowling league, Seven Lakes mahjong groups and bingo. She enjoyed the friends and fellowship each of these activities brought her. She found joy playing Uno and Rummikub with all her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Claudia Lundberg, and sisters, Claire (John) Johnstone and Barbara (Bill) Barrington.

Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Koller, and three children Joann Phillips (Steve) of Pinehurst, NC, Deborah Olsen (Charlie) of Port Jefferson Station, NY, and Dr. John J. Koller (Suzanne McDonald) of Reinholds, PA; 10 grandchildren – Joseph Olsen (Christina), Katie Olsen, Liz Olsen, Drew Phillips, Thomas Koller, Matthew Koller, Patrick Koller, Justin Phillips, Genevieve Koller, and AJ Koller; her sister Jacque (Gene) Imes; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church will be held on Monday, July 23 at 11 AM with Reverend John. J. Forbes officiating.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at FirstHealth Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be made to the Hospice House at FirstHealth Hospice 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst North Carolina 28374.
