John Alan Wheeler, 77, of Southern Pines, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Penick Village in Southern Pines. 

Mr. Wheeler was born April 3, 1943 in Camden, N.J. to the late Benjamin Frederick and Lois Nadine (Fisher) Wheeler.  He graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School in Haddonfield, N.J. and was a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.  He served in the US Air Force and worked many years in the computer industry.  He was also an organist and choir director for several churches in N.J. and other locations.

John was a devoted son who enjoyed his family, a gifted musician who shared his talents with many, and a lover of technology.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia W. Green of Southern Pines; Niece, Elisabeth A. Green and nephews, Robert A. Green (Mary), William H. Green (Amy), and John F. Green; Eleven grand nieces and nephews: Rachel E. Green, Michael C. Green, Theresa M. Green, Andrew R. Green, Rebekah P, Green, Matthew B. Green, Alyssa R. Green, Austin E. Reynolds, Emma C. Green, Samantha M. Green, and Gabriel F. Green.
