John Reginald Baker, Jr., 85, of Carthage, NC passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Magnolia Gardens in Southern Pines, NC.
John was born on September 1, 1935 in Moore County, NC to the late John and Elizabeth Slack Baker. He served 4 years in the US Navy prior to obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree from Elon College. In 1971, he moved back to Moore County to run a family business. In 1983, he joined Moore County Magistrate Office and worked there until he retired. He enjoyed salt water fishing and gardening. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carthage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca “Becky” Baker in 2009; and his son Kevin Andrew Baker in 2013.
He is survived by his son John R. Baker, III (Alma); daughter-in-law, Lisa Baker; grandchildren, Brian Blue (Kristin), Jonathan Baker (Joanna), Megan Baker, Drew Baker, Nicholas Baker (AJ); great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn Blue, Thomas Blue, Eli Baker and Aiden Baker.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 110 S. Ray Street, Carthage, NC 28327.
