Joyce Thomas Loney, 64 of Seven Lakes passed away Friday, May 11, 2018.
Mrs. Loney was born on July 13, 1953 in Sanford, NC to the late Augusta James Thomas and Nannie Mae Brown Thomas. She graduated from Sanford Central High School in 1971 and over the course of her career served as an administrative professional for Maxway, The Pantry, Governors Club, and Lee Moore Oil Company. She loved spending time with her family, watching Tar Heel basketball, playing golf, fishing, and working in her garden.
Mrs. Loney was preceded in death by her husband Michael Jerome Loney, brother Harold Thomas and twin brother Royce Thomas.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan Badgett Smith and husband Brian of Sanford; son, Ben Badgett of Sanford; sisters, Barbara Maddox and husband Robert of Sanford; Linda Roper and husband Jim of Fuquay-Varina; Cheryl Owings and husband Don of Carolina Lakes; sisters-in-law, Shirley Thomas and Phyllis Thomas; grandchildren, Virginia Smith, William Smith, and Mary Thomas Smith. She is also survived by special friend Holton Easter.
A visitation will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 16 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. A memorial service will follow at 12 PM with Pastor Brent Thomas, her nephew, officiating. The family will also receive visitors after the memorial service at the home of Brian and Jan Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the West End United Methodist Church or to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care.
