Kathleen Marie Voltz, 76, of Pinehurst, passed peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 29th.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at a later date.
Born in Kansas City, MO in the Spring of 1943, she was the daughter of the late Louis Weaver and Florence Strausser. After her high school graduation, Kathleen went on to earn her Bachelors’ Degree from the Mount Carmel School of Nursing. In 1970 she married Robert Voltz. Kathleen was a Registered Nurse and had worked for Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. She moved to the Sandhills in 2007. Kathleen had been a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Pinehurst. She worked closely with her church choir and bereavement group. Kathleen was fond of animals, and loved her Boxer dogs and cats. She thought that charity was more than just a good idea, and worked as a volunteer and leader for hospital and church groups. She rarely had a time when she didn’t have music playing around her house, and loved classical and 50’s doo-wop.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter Eileen Cano and son-in-law Benjamin, by her son Michael Voltz and his daughters Mikayla and Ashlyn by their mother Valerie and his wife Brandie and step-sons Connor and Cameron. She is also survived by sisters Jackie and Peggie.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made to the Barker Foundation of Washington, DC, the Moore County SPCA, or the Foundation of Firsthealth.
