Leon Nelson Sanders,73, died Friday, March 25, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.
Leon was born March 22, 1949 to Nelson Webster and Gladys Morgan Sanders in Moore County. He attended Sandhills Community College where he studied Horticulture. He worked in textiles for Milliken Mill and Carthage Fabric. He was also a Lab Technician for Standard Mineral Corp. He always enjoyed nature and the outdoors, where he hunted and went fishing. Leon was proud of his family and time spent with them was very important. He will be remembered as a good father and grandfather. Repairing lawn mowers and tractors was a hobby that Leon enjoyed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister: Hazel Robinson; brother: John David Sanders.
Leon is survived by son: Shannon Sanders and wife Heather; daughter: Tara Sanders; grandchildren: Savannah Sanders, Dawson Sanders, Jenna Smith, Katie Bastida, Brian Minor; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sister: Thelma Sanders; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Pleasant View Christian Church Cemetery, with Dr. Kenneth McNeill officiating.
