Lorraine Gertrude Richmond, 97, of Pinehurst, passed away on June 14, 2018 at Quail Haven.
She was born on August 16, 1920 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late John and Margaret Caldwell. Lorraine grew up on Long Island, New York where she raised her children and spent the majority of her long life. In 1986, She and her previous husband, the late Kenneth H. MacWatt, moved to Pinehurst, settling in a new home on Lake Pinehurst. A member of the Pinehurst Country Club, Lorraine enjoyed her golf and socializing. In addition, she was a member of an international golf group, through which, she traveled the world, playing golf in exotic places. Other activities included memberships in the Pinehurst Garden Club and the POE Sisterhood. A crafter, She sewed endless aprons and created countless crafts for sale at many local charitable organizations. Lorraine loved her friends and her life in Pinehurst. Those who knew her will miss her greatly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John J. Caldwell; and her husband, John K. Richmond on June 14, 2017.
She is survived by two children, Sharon A. Fessier of Staunton, VA and John W. Condit of Pinehurst, NC. Her Children wish to thank her wonderful caretakers, FirstHealth Hospice, local EMS and the Pinehurst Police Department for their compassionate help.
A Celebration of Lorraine’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst at 4:00PM with reception following until 6:00PM. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lorraine’s name to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation 150 Applecross Road Pinehurst, NC 28374.
